Neurodynamical Model Of Locomotion In A Simple Vertebrate 

Department Of Mathematical Sciences 

A postdoctoral research associate is required to work for two years with
Professor P C Bressloff and Dr S Coombes in the Nonlinear and Complex
Systems Group, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Loughborough
University, UK. The post is funded by EPSRC and will be available from 1
May 1998, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The aim of the project is to develop a general dynamical theory of
pulse-coupled oscillator networks, and to apply this to a
neurobiological model of the swimming and struggling behaviour of the
Xenopus Tadpole. The work is in collaboration with Professor Alan
Roberts, School of Biological Sciences, Bristol University.

The appointment will be on the Research Grade 1A salary scale £15,159 -
£22,785 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
