Long-range synchronizations have long been noted in the nervous system of the
dog.  A Russian reprint I stashed somewhere in my files in the early '70s (and
which doggedly rebuffs my efforts to unearth it) concerned synchronizations
between events in the dog's visual system and events in the dog's lower bowel.
It is simply a case of What the Dog's Tectum tells the Dog's Rectum.
