*We are searching for a PhD candidate to work on a project entitled “The
neurodevelopmental model of early-onset schizophrenia: a longitudinal MRI
and fMRI study” with **Dr Danai Dima*
<http://www.city.ac.uk/people/academics/danai-dima>* at City, University of
London.*

Early-onset schizophrenia (EOS) represents a more severe and rare variant
of adult-onset schizophrenia, with onset before 18 years old. In recent
year, the ‘neurodevelopmental’ model has been gaining support and posits
that the illness is the end stage of abnormal neurodevelopmental processes
that began years before. Identifying potentially predictive factors related
to a more favourable outcome can positively impact on long-term outcome,
especially in young patients. In order to test this we will be utilizing
longitudinal (5 year interval) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and
functional MRI (fMRI) already acquired from adolescents who were diagnosed
with EOS.
