If you're trying to compile the trunk, there are some build issues at the
moment. We expect to have them resolved within a week. If you want to get
something up and running sooner try the latest stable tagged version.

As far as the licensing of Madeleine, you should probably ask the authors
directly: Dan Bohus and Alex Rudnicky.
