Beyond Observation: Designing 3D Games for Neurodiversity Assessment and Intervention
Tuesday, 13 October 2026 · 10:00-11:30 AM (GMT+3) - Doha, Qatar · Hybrid (in-person + online)
Interactive 3D games and WebXR environments are usually framed as entertainment, yet they are also structured, naturalistic settings in which behavior can be observed and measured. This workshop explores how such environments can be designed as tools for assessment, learning, therapy, and intervention with autistic and other neurodiverse users, and how to do so in an accessible, neurodiversity-affirming way that complements, never replaces, clinician and caregiver judgment.
We invite:

  *
Extended abstracts (up to 2 pages, ACM format, references excluded): research, works-in-progress, or demos
  *
Industry position statements (1–2 pages, free format): applied perspectives, tools, deployments

Topics include (not limited to):

  *
Quantifying behavior during gameplay: gaze, movement, navigation, object interaction, response timing, task choices, performance
  *
Designing gameplay to index attention, engagement, decision-making, and relating game-derived measures to clinician- and questionnaire-based assessment
  *
Behavioral analytics, machine learning, and candidate digital biomarkers from multimodal gameplay data
  *
Accessibility and neurodiversity-affirming design for immersive 3D: sensory load, cognitive load, navigation, pacing, customization
  *
Participatory design and co-design with neurodivergent users
  *
Ethics, validity, and responsible interpretation
  *
Deployment in clinics, schools, and homes

keynote speaker; A-Sense project showcase (MARVoc, ShopAutiPlan, EmpowerOT, joint & selective attention); panel with industry, researcher, and practitioner voices; community roadmap toward a co-authored position paper and standing research network.
