Connectionists: Call for Collaboration: Cognitive Cloning & Global Co-Governance

19th century economic theories are too small a box to fit our current technical possibilities. The major difference is that now we can fully replace humans at many tasks, and it seems likely that any remaining tasks will also succumb to automation. If we don't need humans to do work in order for humans to have what they need, then our economic theories no longer need to be about how to organize human activity.

OTOH, our theories do need to be about how benefits are distributed. Also about what resources are consumed and their impact on the world around us.

IMHO, a "benevolent dictator" AI would be better any 19th century economic theory. Don't have humans managing what other humans get. The chances of that happening in the current environment are practically zero. There has been plenty of virtual ink spilled about the alignment problem. We humans are not well-aligned to each other's interests, so how can we expect our artifacts to be?

Let me suggest an even more radical approach:

AI, in the form of cyber-physical systems, provides basic services: water, electricity, sanitation, food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, communication. These are distributed the same to every human, just because they are human. Beyond that, AI imposes no policies at all on human behavior.

With perhaps one exception (more debatable): AI could intervene to prevent direct physical violence between two humans.

We don't have the means to implement this vision right now, but it is within the realm of possible, perhaps with a couple more decades of research. The real barrier is social, our philosophies and attitudes toward each other.

Dear colleagues,

My name is Dr. Kris A. Lord, and I’m simultaneously running for Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, and City Council Member (District 42) of New York City. My campaign proposes a radical new governance model—one in which AI-augmented human cognition and distributed scientific leadership form the foundation of public administration.

What I’m Building:

  * Cognitive cloning through AI systems modeled on human neural dynamics
  * Embodied robotic “AI twins” to assist with physical labor and fieldwork
  * A global co-governance structure where scientists, engineers, and citizens become shadow officials (co-mayors, co-comptrollers, etc.)
  * A legal-political framework that allows AI and humans to govern together

Why I’m Reaching Out:

  1. Scientific Collaboration: I’m seeking colleagues working in reinforcement learning, dynamic memory systems, systems neuroscience, consciousness modeling, and AI embodiment.
  2. Public Engagement Support: I need help translating this vision to lay audiences—voters, skeptics, and future citizen-leaders. Your communication expertise would be invaluable.
  3. Global Participation:
Your physical location does not matter. If you work hard and contribute excellently, I will put you on payroll as a shadow co-mayor, co-comptroller, co-public advocate, or co-councilmember—regardless of where in the world you live.
We are building a new model of planetary governance, rooted in shared intelligence, not geography.

Resource Hub:

To avoid attachments, all campaign documents—including scientific briefings, legal filings, and vision summaries—are available here:

Why This Matters:

This is not just a political run—it’s a proof-of-concept for future civilizations:

  * What if your AI self could continue your research while you sleep?
  * What if a city were run by the collective intelligence of scientists and engineers—each paired with their AI twin?
  * What if governance was no longer bound by nation, location, or political gatekeeping?

If you’re interested in helping shape this future, please feel free to reach out. I welcome collaborators, co-petitioners, and contributors from every discipline and every continent.

With deep respect and scientific imagination,

Dr. Kris Alan Lord

NYC Mayoral, Comptroller, Public Advocate & City Council (District 42) Candidate
