Connectionists: PostDoc and Assistant Professor positions at Computer Vision Laboratory

The Computer Vision Laboratory @ UNISS is opening up to 4 PostDoc positions
and one Assistant Professor position in the field of Computer Vision,
Biometrics, Machine Learning and Biologically-inspired Perception-Action
Systems for Humanoid Robotics.



The research will be conducted in the framework of National and
International projects.  The objective of the position is to develop novel
models of visual perception for man-machine and human-robot interactions.

The proposed research will be carried out in the Computer Vision Lab (Prof.
Massimo Tistarelli) at UNISS. The research will rely on the background
research and software tools developed at the CVL. And it will involve
experimental sessions carried out both on available datasets and newly
acquired data from our laboratory robotic set-up.



The ideal candidate should hold a PhD or MS degree in computer science,
electrical engineering or related fields. She or he should have a
background in statistics, applied mathematics, optimization, linear algebra
and signal processing. The applicant should also have strong programming
skills and be familiar with Python, C/C++, various scripting languages and
with the Linux environment. Knowledge in machine learning and deep learning
is an asset.



Shortlisted candidate may undergo a series of tests including technical
reading and writing in English and programming.

Appointment for each PostDoc position is for 2 years but may be renewed
provided successful progress and depending on funding opportunities. Salary
on the first year will be in the order of 25'000 euro (gross salary). The
Assistant Professor position is also based on a 2 year renewable contract
and the salary will be determined upon the skills and experience of the
candidate.

Starting date is Fall 2019.
