The School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh wishes to appoint a
WHITTAKER RESEARCH FELLOW in MATHEMATICS FOR DATA SCIENCE. The fellowship is
a fixed term contract for two years.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a track record of research
developing new mathematical or statistical methods for the analysis and
processing of large-scale datasets. The candidates' research, which can be
foundational or applied, will relate to themes that include (but are not
limited to) structure identification, dimensionality reduction and machine
learning. Successful candidates will connect with existing areas of
expertise in the School of Mathematics and, more broadly, with relevant
research within the University. They will demonstrate a strong independent
research programme and will be committed to teaching. The successful
candidates will join Edinburgh Data Science, a 1000-researcher network of
excellence that coordinates the University's activities in data science;
they will have the opportunity to participate in the Centres for Doctoral
Training 'Data Science' and 'Maxwell Institute Graduate School in Analysis &
its Applications.'
