Postdoctoral position in optical microscopy for neuroscience
Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, France
A postdoctoral position is available in October 2006 at the Laboratory
of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology of the Ecole Normale Supérieure,
Paris, France, to combine two-photon microscopy and adaptive optic to
improve depth of imaging in scattering samples such as brain tissues.
The project involves the design of a two-photon microscope including
correction of wavefront distortions due to the large scale structures in
brain tissues. Adaptive corrections based on wavefront measurement and
on genetic algorithm will be used. This project aims at improving depth
of imaging /in vivo/ and this optical set-up will be used to analyze in
young rats multiple single unit activity in rat layer IV barrel cortex
under controlled stimulation of the corresponding principal whisker. We
are looking for an applicant with a background in optics and microscopy.
Experience with laser optics, two-photon microscopy and adaptive optics
is desirable.
