Postdoc & RA/Programming Positions in Comp. Modeling of Memory
We have two openings in our lab in the area of computational
neuroscience, to develop and evaluate computational models of the
neural bases of learning and memory, with special reference to the
hippocampus and medial temporal lobes, the basal ganglia and striatum,
cortico-striatal loops, and the role of key neuromodulators of these
brain systems. For more information on our research and current lab
personnel, see http://www.gluck.edu. All modeling takes places in the
context, and is informed by, our ongoing experimental studies of
learning and memory, including animal research, clinical studies of
memory disordered patients (e.g., with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and
schizophrenia), and functional brain imaging of healthy and impaired
human subjects.
One opening is for a postdoctoral fellow. The other is for a full-time
Research Assistant/Programmer, ideally someone with a BA who is
looking to gain research experience and publications, prior to
applying to graduate school in the cognitive, neural, or computational
sciences. For both positions, strong computer programming skills are
essential (C, Java, or equivalent) as is prior programming experience,
course work, and/or extensive independent reading in neural networks
and computational neuroscience.
Our lab is located at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral
Neuroscience, at Rutgers University -Newark, located in downtown
Newark, New Jersey, just 17 minutes by train from downtown New York
City, NY. See http://www.cmbn.rutgers.edu.
To apply, please send email to Mark Gluck, gluck at pavlov.rutgers.edu,
with a full description of relevant past experience and future career
goals. Both positions are available to be filled either immediately,
this summer, or this coming fall.
