PhD Studentship available

Applications are invited to fill a PhD studentship at the University of
Sheffield, U.K. 

Funding is available under EPSRC grant number GR/R84801/01 - `Learning
Classifiers from Sloppily Labelled Data' for a three year EPSRC
studentship. 

This project is a collaborative effort between Neil Lawrence of the
Machine Learning group at Sheffield (http://www.thelawrences.net/neil/)
and Bernhard Schoelkopf (http://www.kyb.tuebingen.mpg.de/bu/people/bs)
of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tuebingen,
Germany. 

The studentship is scheduled to start in September 2002.

The principal requirement for applicants is that they have a strong
mathematical background developed through a first degree in Physics,
Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science. Additional knowledge of
the fundamentals of machine learning would also be an advantage.
