Graduate Training in Psychobiology, Psychophysiology, and Neuroscience at
Penn State
The Psychology Department at Penn State invites students with excellent
undergraduate academic records and research experience to apply for
graduate training in psychobiology, psychophysiology, and neuroscience.
Faculty in the department have wide-ranging interests and offer a variety
of personalized training experiences for graduate students. Faculty
research specialties include motion sickness, nausea and appetite;
affective neuroscience; chronobiology (time analysis of behavior's
rhythms); developmental and clinical cognitive neuroscience; attention and
information processing; and visual cognition. The department has
particular expertise in and excellent facilities for research using
psychophysiological (EEG, ERP, EGG, EKG) and behavioral measures.
Penn State's Psychology Department offers an exceptionally congenial and
collaborative environment for graduate students who are seeking
individualized and hands-on training. Incoming students are guaranteed a
competitive multi-year financial package. The Department has collaborative
relationships with other neuroscience researchers who are part of the
university-wide Life Sciences Consortium based at University Park and at
the College of Medicine in Hershey. In addition, the Department expects to
add a senior neuroscientist to the faculty by Fall 2001.
Penn State is located in an area known for its affordability and
exceptional quality of life.
