Dear all,
I would appreciate it if you could bring these positions to the attentions
of any interested people. They are part of a project exploring perceptual
and cognitive development that aims to link behavioural experimental work
with neural network modelling as tightly as possible. Although one position
is experimental and the other is computational, the ideal candidate would
have interests in both approaches to studying perception and cognition.

Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Psychology/Cognitive Science
(Two-Year Fixed Term)
We are seeking two researchers to work with Dr Denis Mareschal within the
School of Psychology and the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development.
The posts are tenable from 1 February, 2001 or as soon as possible
thereafter.
1. Infant Behavioural Testing (Ref: APS346) The post will consist mainly
in testing categorisation in infants. You will use both visual preference
and manipulation methodologies to assess categorisation in infants from age
3 to 24 months.
Applicants should have a PhD, preferably in cognitive psychology or
developmental psychology.
2. Connectionist Modelling (Ref: APS343) The post will consist mainly in
applying connectionist/neural network techniques. You will help implement
and design models of memory and categorisation in infancy. It is expected
that applicants with advanced technical skills would have ample time to
develop their own research programmes.
Applicants should have a PhD, preferably in cognitive psychology,
developmental psychology, AI, or Neural Computation.
