The Computer Science Department of the University of Geneva
(Switzerland) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in two
Swiss-NSF funded research projects about biomedical data analysis for
visual object recognition, and textual data analysis for document
categorization. The two projects have strong overlap on the
computational side since they both address common machine learning and
statistical modeling issues such as classification and clustering (for

Candidates for this position should have a strong background in
machine learning or statistical modeling as well as a sound experience
in statistical image processing and an interest in statistical text
processing (or vice versa).

The candidate who will fill the position will work in a
multidisciplinary environment where computer scientists,
mathematicians, biologists, and computational linguists collaborate in
stimulating research projects. Therefore, the postdoc will have the
opportunity to develop new interests and initiate new research
directions in the department.

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, and is initially for
one year, extendable to another year or possibly more.
