Announcement of a new paper by Amari:

The following paper entitled

"Information Geometry on Hierarchical Decomposition of
Stochastic Interactions"

has been submitted to IEEE Trans. IT. The paper gives
a method of orthogonal decomposition of higher order
or multi-way interactions of random variables into
the sum of those of lower interactions. Information
Geometry gives a good solution to this problem. The
theory can be applied to decomposition of interactions
among an ensemble of firing neurons. I obtained the
results more than ten years ago, having given a talk
at a meeting in Japanese Mathematical Society. But I
could not find sufficient time to write them in a paper form
until now.
