	GESTURE RECOGNITION POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

The Center for Human-Computer Communication at the Oregon Graduate
Institute of Science and Technology has a postdoctoral opening for a
talented researcher interested in gesture recognition in the context
of multimodal communication. We have considerable experience building
multimodal systems, using speech and pen-based gestures, in which
speech and gesture mutually compensate for one another's errors. The
position would involve gestural research and development recog., both
2-D and 3-D, in a multimodal environment, as well as statistical
language modeling. Experience with neural networks and HMMs is
essential. Of course, background in handwriting recognition would be
most appropriate.

Salary and benefits for this position are competitive. To apply,
submit a resume, names and contact information for 3 references, a
brief statement of research career interests, and date of
availability. Applications received by Sept. 1 will receive priority
consideration. Qualified women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
