POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE

The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO)
will make a THREE YEAR POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE within the
project "Neurological Basis of Language" (NWO project 030-30-
431) to a candidate whose Ph.D. research was directed toward
computational modelling of cognitive functions (preferably
language) based on psychological and neuroanatomical data.
The role of the postdoc would be to develop computational
models of language processing which employ physiologically
plausible assumptions and are compatible with or predict the
results of psycholinguistic experimental evidence on the time
course and structure of language processing.

The goal of the project as a whole is to investigate localization of
language functions using positron emission tomography, the time course
of language processing using event-related potentials to develop a
neurologically plausible model of language.

Contact Dr. Laurie A. Stowe, Dept. of Linguistics, Faculty of
Letters, University of Groningen, Postbus 716, 9700 AS Groningen,
Netherlands, 31 50 636627 or stowe at let.rug.nl for further
information. Applications should be accompanied by a curricu-
lum vita, two references (direct from referee), and documenta-
tion of research experience in the form of published and in
progress articles.
