POSSIBLE NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL POSTDOCTORAL OPPORTUNITY
I anticipate possible funding this autumn of one or two National Research
Council postdoctoral Research Associate positions in a Neural Human-System
Interface Development project for Online Alertness Monitoring using EEG and
video signals.
One position would involve design and testing of experiments in use of
EEG-based alertness information to improve human-computer interfaces
in military and transportation-related settings. An ideal candidate
would have a strong background in engineering and signal processing,
with interests in cognitive neuroscience and applications to human-computer
interface design.
A second position would focus on combining time-series analysis, neural
networks, and information theory to study applications of independent
component analysis to brain imaging and EEG data. The ideal candidate
would have a strong background in time-series analysis, information theory,
and neural networks, with interests in blind separation and biomedical
information processing.

As there is an Aug. 12 deadline for application to the NRC program,
immediate inquiries via email are advisable.
