Lecturers in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience
or Behavioural Ecology
Applications from suitably qualified and experienced scientists are invited for
two lectureships in this enthusiastic and expanding department. Candidates
should have a good honours degree, a doctorate, knowledge of computing and
multivariate data analysis, and a record of research activity in published
papers and research support. Applicants who will contribute to three
areas of research: (1) cognitive, sensory and systems neuroscience,
(2) neural network computing, and (3) behavioural ecology are particularly
encouraged. Excellent research facilities and support will be provided. Salary
will be on the Lecturer Scale (to GBP26,430), at a position determined by
qualifications and experience.
The Department of Psychology at Newcastle is broadly-based and rapidly growing.
All undergraduate courses offered by the Department are heavily over-subscribed
and the Department's postgraduate research community is the fastest growing of
any in the university. Staff have research programs in cognitive neuroscience,
behavioural ecology, and applied, occupational, health, social and cognitive
psychology. The Department is also the home of the Neural Systems Group, an
interdisciplinary centre for research in sensory, systems, computational and
cognitive neuroscience, and neural network computing. The members of the Neural
Systems Group are drawn from the Departments of Psychology, Physiological
Sciences and the School of Neurosciences. Further details of the department and
