NN for image pre-processing

Hi, my name is Jai Choi
I found this connectionist letter very useful to get new information.

As you know NN has proven to be well suited for the low-level 
image pre-processing.  We can take advantage of speed over
conventional convolution technique.

I am currently trying to implement NN processor for 
examining an X-ray image with hard-wired neural network.
  
Do anybody know of any kind of hardware development for this problem ?

Please share information regarding NN application for low level image
pre-processing either software or hardware aspect.
