Dear Autonians,

I just talked to Ed and this is going to happen. I will gracefully power 
down all our servers (including web site which I will redirect to a 
message) on Tuesday by 9:00 PM. The main power switch in the machine 
room will go down few hours later. The hope is that by Thursday morning
I will be able to start powering things up. Both Ed, I, and many other 
people familiar with the machine room are not optimists about this. We 
see all sorts of red flags with these contractors. However we had no say 
to whom University would hire to preform the job.

rescheduled for November 16th.  We expect this work to take less than 24 
hours.  The outage may run into 48 hours if the electrical contractor 
encounters problems related to the planned maintenance tasks.
