[auton-users] Recent System Instability

Hi Lab,

In recent weeks we have had our primary file server hang a number of
times. As most of you know, this hangs the LOPs and even your desktop,
if you have a VPN connected home directory. This happened again this
morning.

While I am not certain yet what the cause is, I know that it is not a
failed fan, hard drive or memory in the server. The last time (before
today) I tested these components, and they were functional even under
heavy, extended load (well beyond what normally occurs on this
machine). I am still using process of elimination to determine what the
cause might be. This morning I reseated PCI cards, removed a secondary
external SCSI array to evaluate whether it could be part of the problem.

In the meantime, if you notice the system becomes unresponsive, you are
welcome to report any problems to my cell phone at 412-596-1618, my
office number, 412-268-8939, or by email or even text message to my cell.

-Mike
