[auton-users] weekend service outage

Unfortunately we've had some DNS problems over the weekend. ok, ok, the
truth is that we've had a total DNS breakdown over the weekend. Web visits,
as well as mail to the autonlab.org domain (including all of the
mailing-lists) didn't go through. It's hard to tell when exactly it all
started, but I suspect the problem itself started sometime on Friday, and
due to the caching nature of DNS some clients may have successfully
accessed the site throughout Saturday morning.
The servers themselves were still running, and had network
connectivity. For example, attempts to log into a cycle-server using it's
.AUTON.CS.CMU.EDU name were successful.
I noticed this around noon today and fixed the bad DNS record. It seems
that by now the change has propagated to the DNS servers and normal
functionality is restored. Expect mailing list messages that were sent in
the last two days to appear in the following hours.
Let me know if you see any other problems with the site.
Technical note: we switched registrars for the domain recently and the
problem was due to the fact that I wasn't familiar with the bad interface
of the new registrar. I moved the less-used autonlab.com domain about two
weeks ago to try and spot exactly this kind of trouble, but this particular
issue only arises in the autonlab.org domain. Sorry about that.
