[Research] CVS Access During Machine Room Shutdown

Hi Everyone,

If you use an SSH tunnel to a LOP, your CVS may not work correctly until
you verify that your CVSROOT is set properly.

PROBLEM:

The reason for this is that we have [quick] control over .autonlab.org
DNS servers, but the .cs.cmu.edu DNS changes must go through SCS Help,
which takes longer than is useful. Since the IP addresses have changed
temporarily, DNS resolution to the moved .auton.cs.cmu.edu machines will
not work.

TO FIX:

If you use a ".auton.cs.cmu.edu" suffix on your CVSROOT, you will need
to change it to ".autonlab.org".

Follow the instructions at

http://www.autonlab.org/auton_intranet/15869.html

To change your CVSROOT.

Once you do this, you will be setup in a way that is not as sensitive to
server moves in the future, so it is good to do, even if you are not
planning on using CVS this weekend.
