Applications are invited for a senior research staff position in the
Research and Technology Development Center (RTDC) at the Johns Hopkins
University Applied

Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL).

The successful candidate will join the System and Information Sciences
(RSI) group of the RTDC and perform original R&D supporting research
thrusts in automated video analysis, statistical language modeling and
information retrieval, and bioinformatics.  The ideal candidate will
have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer science or related
field and extensive experience developing and applying machine
learning techniques to challenging real-world problems.

Expertise in the following areas is desirable:
(1) Bayesian networks
(2) Support vector classification and regression/kernel methods
(3) Statistical learning theory

JHU/APL is a not-for-profit university affiliated research laboratory,
located between Washington D.C. and Baltimore, MD. The RSI group is
comprised of 20+ M.S.  and Ph.D. level Computer Scientists, Electrical
Engineers and Physicists performing R&D in the areas of statistical
modeling and inference, bioinformatics, network modeling, video
analysis, information retrieval, intelligent databases, distributed
computing and human- computer interaction. Further information on
