The Department of Computer Science and the School of Biological Sciences
at the University of Manchester seek applications for a Research
Councils funded Chair in Bioinformatics, and for an associated
lectureship. The University already has a strong collaborative research
activity in Bioinformatics, and with the support of the UK Research
Councils, is seeking to grow and strengthen that activity, specifically
in the area of Post Genomic Bioinformatics.

The Chair: The appointee will be expected to establish and lead
collaborative research activities that bring advanced computational
techniques to bear on problems involving information management,
analysis and visualization, specifically in the context of genomic data.
It is anticipated that the appointee will have an international
reputation for work in bioinformatics, and will possess skills that
complement those of people currently working at Manchester. The salary
will be negotiable from £37,500 p.a.

The Lectureship: The appointee will be expected to bring computational
skills of relevance to post genomic bioinformatics. Specifically,
applicants with experience of statistical modelling, machine learning
and information visualization are particularly encouraged to apply, but
these topics should not be considered as excluding other relevant areas.
The salary will be in the range £18731 - £23256 or £24227 - £30967 per
annum.
