ACM CHI 2026 Workshop - Moving Beyond Clicks: Rethinking Consent and
User Control in the Age of AI
Submission deadline: Feb 12 AoE
Notification: Feb 24
Date and place: one day on April 13-17 in Barcelona, in conjunction with
ACM CHI; exact date will be known when the CHI program is finalized
Our everyday digital lives are saturated with challenging privacy
decisions, many of which are stacked against us through the use of
manipulative design. Emerging work on interfaces such as voice and
V/X/AR show similar problems emerging. While it is clear that the notice
and consent mechanism for privacy decisions is broken, its adoption as
the cornerstone of data protection and other regulations means that we
need to envision and design human-centric solutions that address the
continuing problems related to consent and control.
We seek submissions of a 3-page position papers outlining an innovative
approach to or perspective on one of the workshop's key questions, due
on February 12, AoE. More information (including key questions) and
submission details available here:
https://chi26clicks.wseymour.co.uk
During the workshop, we will co-create a set of future personas and
design provocations that take us beyond the limits of conventional
consent and control mechanisms (exciting!).
This one-day workshop will take place in conjunction with the ACM CHI
conference in the week of 13.-17.4.2026 in Barcelona, the exact date is
not known yet. More information on ACM CHI can be found here:
