Hi, Sir/Madam,

Here is Jie Wu from the University of Memphis. Our lab is conducting
experiments to study multimodal communications between humans, and
incorporating the results (for example, people raise their intonation while
smiling, etc) into an artificial avatar. And then we presume that with the
findings, the avatar would interact with humans more naturally. The senario
of the interactions between the subject and the agent would be a
map-oriented task. Each party will be given a map which is different from
the other. The agent will instructions to the subject so that the subject
can find a target on his map.

Our avatar would take in the speech input from the subject, "understand" the
speech and "generate" language and produce speech via a speech synthesizer,
whose architecture is identical to your olympus system. This brings us to
re-using your system for our purpose. We will use our own speech synthesizer
(SAPI-based Speechify) and recognition software (grammar-driven Lumenvox),
and we are going to build our own knowledge base. Personally I think that's
the only thing we need to change for our purpose. However, i do have some
questions regarding the system downloaded from your website.

1) There is RavenClawDoc.doc in the distribution, which I find quite useful.
However, it is not complete, particularly the part we are mostly interested
in, namely the dialogue management. Do you have any updated documentation
for the system?

2) When I go to \RoomLine\Agents\RoomLineDM, and open the VC solution, I can
find two projects here: RoomLineDM and RavenClaw. However, neither of the
projects contain source code inside, in other way around, they are empty.
This happens to other agent projects as well. However, RoomLineDM solution
can strangely start getting compiled, though 3 compilation errors occured:

   - RoomLine\Libraries\RavenClaw\DMInterfaces\DMInterface.h(75): fatal
error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'libicl.h': No such file or
   directory
   - RoomLineDM fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file
   '..\..\Libraries\RavenClaw\Lib\ReleaseGalaxy\RavenClaw.lib'
   - RavenClaw Command line warning D4007 : '/Gm' requires '/Zi or /ZI';
   option ignored

Can you shed some light on this?
3) The input to RavenClaw is the semantic representation generated by
Phoenix, and Helios. Where can I find the samples of the input? If I would
like to see RavenClaw as a single system, do you have any suggestions of how
to make it work?

4) Is there a specification listing the input/output format of each module
so that we can figure out how easy for us to tailor the system?

Thank you so much if you could shed some light on this.

Best wishes.
Regards
Jie
