Connectionists: EEG/EMG Foundation Challenge 2026!

Hello, connectionists e-mail list!

Can your EEG or EMG model still work when the person, recording session, or
stimulus changes?

That’s what we’re testing in the EEG/EMG Foundation Challenge 2026.
Registration is open, with four tracks and $20,000 in total awards.

Choose the problem you want to work on:

   - EEG-to-Image: identify images from brain activity.
   - BCI decoding: decode mental commands across recording sessions.
   - Sleep onset: estimate time to sleep onset in unseen participants.
   - EMG-to-Pose: predict hand pose from muscle signals.

Last year, 1,197 teams from more than 50 countries joined the Neurips EEG
Foundation Challenge 2025.

This year, we are expanding to EMG and new generalization tasks!

You can enter one track or all four. NeuralBench already has public starter
data, guides, and baselines, so you can get your pipeline running before
submissions open on September 21.

The warm-up runs through October 25, followed by evaluation on hidden data
until November 21. Winners will be celebrated at the NeurIPS Brain & Body
Workshop in Sydney on December 11–12.
