Dear colleagues,
The Perception and Activity Understanding group (Jean-Marc Odobez) at Idiap Research Institute invites applications for a PhD position within a French–Swiss SNSF project (AIMANT) on social-AI models for behavior understanding in the context of autism early screening, diagnosis, and monitoring.
The project focuses on developing multimodal behavior models (face and body gestures, gaze, audio, semantics) with temporal structure, at both individual and interaction (child–clinician) levels. A central objective is to leverage these models to derive clinically relevant ASD profile scores from video data.
The work will be carried out at Idiap, in collaboration with Inria (STARS team, Sophia-Antipolis), LIRIS (IMAGINE team, Lyon), and Université Côte d’Azur (Nice) as healthcare partner. The selected candidate will be enrolled at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, EDEE doctoral school; http://phd.epfl.ch/applicants).
Idiap provides a strong research environment in machine learning and computer vision, along with competitive salary and conditions.
