Using EM data from the Allen Institute’s MICrONS project, we’re exploring whether dendritic spine anatomy is linked to the topology of local brain networks.
🔬 We’re testing two key hypotheses:
*
Neuron participation in specific motifs correlates with spine density
*
Connections contributing to key motifs are formed on larger spines
💡 If true:
*
Spines may contribute to how non-random circuit structure is formed and maintained—extending their known role in plasticity.
Speaker:
Michael Reimann | Lead Scientist at Open Brain Institute
