AI/ML faculty opening at the University of California, Irvine (UCI)

The UCI Department of Computer Science invites applications for a 
tenure-track/tenured assistant, associate, or full professor position, 
starting July 1, 2026. This faculty search targets applicants with 
research expertise in all aspects of AI and ML, broadly interpreted.

The 2025 US News and World Report ranks UCI as a top 10 public 
university. The UCI Department of Computer Science is part of the Donald 
Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, the largest computing 
program within the University of California system and one of the 
largest in the nation, offering exceptional opportunities for discovery 
and learning in all areas of information and computer sciences.

The faculty of the UCI Department of Computer Science includes an NAE 
Member, 15 ACM Fellows, 13 IEEE Fellows, 15 AAAS Fellows, and multiple 
AAAI Fellows, IFIP Fellows, and Academia Europea Members. AI and ML are 
a focus of UCI's research. The UCI Center for ML and Intelligent Systems 
connects more than thirty faculty and a broad range of other scientific 
fields. Interdisciplinary AI research at UCI is further facilitated by 
the Steckler Center for Responsible, Ethical, and Accessible Technology 
(CREATE), the AI Science Institute, and the Irvine Initiative in AI, 
Law, and Society.

UCI is located in Orange County (Southern California), 4 miles from the 
Pacific Ocean and 45 miles south of Los Angeles. Faculty are eligible 
for subsidized housing and a Mortgage Origination Program. Programs are
