The Sustainable Artificial Intelligence (SAI)
<https://www.cttc.cat/sustainable-artificial-intelligence-sai/> research
group at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC)
invites applications for a *2-year postdoc position*, with a tentative
start date in the first quarter of 2026.

The successful candidate will work on developing physics-guided learning
and operator-theoretic system identification methods for the detection
and identification of inherently challenging anomalies in complex
dynamical systems.

The goal is threefold:

1. _Detect and identify sophisticated events occurring during transient
system conditions_: Enhance the reliability of anomaly detection, e.g.,
by properly distinguishing between naturally caused disturbances and
adversarial actions.

2. _Improve domain generalization_: Efficient detection of previously
unseen and unknown anomalies will be a first step towards higher-order
cognition and reasoning, addressing the black-box nature and the
brittleness of conventional detection schemes.

3. _Reduce the training data volume and computational overhead_: In
stark contrast to conventional detection schemes, resource-efficient
detection would alleviate the need for a considerable amount of training
data to obtain effective outcomes.

The developed learning methods may have direct applicability to
anomaly/novelty detection problems across several verticals, including
vehicular networks, industrial automation systems, environmental
modeling, and robotics.
