– lecture: "*Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence*":



*Abstract*: Quantum computing and artificial intelligence are two
disciplines with great scientific prominence today. The promises of the
former and the major advances of the latter are each causing a scientific
and technological revolution. But what can these two disciplines do
together? In this talk, we will explore how artificial intelligence
problems can be solved using quantum computers and how classical artificial
intelligence can support quantum computing. We will review recent advances
at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence and
discuss some current challenges and limitations.

*Lecturer Short CV: *Francisco Chicano is Full Professor at the University
of Malaga (Spain). He has more than 150 publications and has been awarded
with 6 best paper awards in international conferences. Dr. Chicano is (or
has been) involved in 10 national projects, 3 European projects, 2 regional
project (Junta de Andalucía), 5 local projects (Universidad de Málaga), and
17 transference contracts with companies and institutions. He has
supervised 4 PhD thesis and is currently supervising 4 PhD thesis.

He is in the editorial board of four journals related to Artificial
Intelligence and Software Engineering and had important editorial roles in
international conferences like GECCO, EvoCOP, and FOGA. He is currently
Secretary of ACM Special Interest Group on Evolutionary Computation
(SIGEVO), which organizes GECCO (main conference in EC in the world) and
FOGA conferences, and Treasurer of the SPECIES Society, organizer of the
Evostar conferences.

Dr. Chicano has made contributions to the fields of combinatorial
optimization, AI applied to Software Engineering and, more recently,
quantum computing. In Quantum Optimization, Dr. Chicano is co-founder and
co-organizer of the Workshop on Quantum Optimization at the Genetic and
Evolutionary Computation (since 2022), and co-organizer of the two editions
of the “International Workshop on Quantum Computing and Artificial
Intelligence” at AAAI (the main conference on Artificial Intelligence in
the World). He also co-organized the Special Session on Quantum Artificial
Intelligence at CEC/WCCI (three editions) and has given three tutorials on
“Introduction to Quantum Optimization” at GECCO. He is the director of an
online course on Quantum artificial intelligence at the General Foundation
of the University of Malaga and participates as lecturer in a course on
quantum computing at the University of Malaga.
