Description
Join the inaugural faculty cohort at Vanderbilt University’s new College of Connected Computing. Become part of the community whose vision is to build a transformative college dedicated to computer science, AI, data science and related fields. We have opened five full-time Professor of the Practice faculty positions. We are seeking well-qualified applicants at all ranks to join our 10 current teaching professors and over 50 tenure and tenure track faculty in building and supporting this vision. Applicants with a background in computer science, data science, quantitative social science, digital humanities, and other computationally oriented disciplines are encouraged to apply.
As a member of our growing department in the new college, teaching faculty will enjoy a 2/3 teaching load. Our average class size is 45 students with over 20 courses having 35 or fewer students. Faculty are well supported by TA’s and undergraduate graders. Teaching faculty typically teach undergraduate core courses with the opportunity to teach upper-level courses and to develop additional courses as our curriculum evolves under the new vision for computer science. Our teaching faculty can also supplement their 9-month salary with additional teaching opportunities, many of which are offered online.
Teaching faculty will participate in service to the college, engaging in novel efforts to broaden participation, deepen undergraduate research opportunities and widen access to computational thinking studies for students across the university. We are building innovative programs and launching fresh initiatives that will appeal to the interests of a diverse faculty. This is your opportunity to build or reshape your career and participate in our vision of computer science for all.
