Dear Colleagues,

The Autonomous Learning Robots (ALR) lab at the Karlsruhe Institute of
Technology (KIT) is seeking for highly motivated team members
(post-doctoral researcher or doctoral student) with a strong background in
reinforcement learning and/or geometric deep learning.

The successful candidate will investigate modelling of deformable materials
with geometric deep learning with focus on data-driven optimization in
applications for production engineering such as stamp forming. You will be
part of a larger interdisciplinary consortium consisting of production
engineers, mechanical engineers and machine learning experts. Good writing
and communication skills are required. PDRA applicants should have an
outstanding record of research and publications. The PDRA contract will be
given for 2 years with the possibility of extension of another year. The
PhD position is initially funded for 4 years.

Strong research background and expertise in some of the following areas are
preferred:

- Deep reinforcement learning

- Graph Neural Networks

- Modelling deformable objects

- Robot learning for manipulation

- Mesh-based FEM simulations

You will also closely interact with other team members of the ALR lab,
supervise master students and work in a highly collaborative team.

To apply, applicants should send their applications to
gerhard.neumann at kit.edu including:

- CV with a list of at least 3 references for PDRAs and 2 for PhD candidates

- Record of publications (for PDRAs only)

- A statement about research interest and why you are interested in this
position (up to 1 page).

best wishes,

Gerhard Neumann

Professor

Head of the Autonomous Learning Robots (ALR) lab
