Head engineer/ Senior engineer in mechatronics

At the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Technology Management, a full-time one-year position is available as head engineer or senior engineer in mechatronics. The position is available immediately. It is funded by a Norwegian Research Council’s proof-of-concept project entitled ‘Fully Automated Ultrasonication Robot for Homogenization of Biomass Samples (FABS)’.

You will join a highly motivated, international team with competence in robotics, spectroscopy and data science developing a commercial version of the FABS robot to meet the industrial standards in robustness, reliability, and versatility. You will focus on the improvements of the mechatronics design and software development. We collaborate with external industrial suppliers for the industrialization of the robot.

Main tasks
Industrial-level mechatronics design of the FABS robot
Improve the robustness and user-friendliness of the software
Test the system with various samples
Document the development activities and tests

Required qualifications:
MSc or equivalent in mechatronics, computer science, robotics, or mechanical engineering
Extensive, documented programming competence in Python, preferably in ROS
Experience in development of industrial-level products

The following experiences and skill will be emphasized:
Experience in machine design and PCB design
Experience in rapid prototyping
Experience from project implementation/follow-up and reporting

You need to:
Speak and write English very well
Have good communication and collaboration skills
