Connectionists: DeepMind PhD Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence at University of Edinburgh

Dear all,

The School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh and DeepMind have formed a partnership supporting students in their PhD studies in the field of Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The scholarship covers all tuition fees (at the Home/International tuition fee rate), provides annual stipend of £15,609 per annum (for 4 years full time study) and provides a research training and support grant.

There is one PhD scholarships available for award during the academic year of 2022/3.

Recipients will also benefit from mentoring from DeepMind staff during their period of study. The scholarship places no obligation on the recipient other than to undertake PhD in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence in the School of Informatics at The University of Edinburgh and to meet with their mentor.

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who:

  *   is resident of a country and/or region underrepresented in AI;
  *   identify as women including cis and trans people and non-binary or gender fluid people who identify in a significant way as women or female;
  *   and/or identify as Black or other minority ethnicity;

All eligible applicants who apply to a PhD research degree, with a research proposal in the specific area of Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence including computer vision, machine learning and natural language processing, will be automatically considered for the scholarship.
