Connectionists: Brain effective connectivity still worthwhile?

Hi all,

last year I published something about effective connectivity based on an extension
of Granger causality https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1053811921005644

I am working now on something more on the nonlinear relation of causality but not
yet purely based on perturbation. Yet, I started having doubt whether all those
efforts on causality have an actual contribution. Is it worthwhile?
Are still people interested in this?
