We are delighted to announce HealTAC 2021, the fourth annual Healthcare
Text Analytics Conference. Given the ongoing situation with the COVID-19
pandemic, HealTAC 2021 will be an *online* event, but if the circumstances
allow, we aim to organise a *blended* conference, with some activities also
delivered face-to-face in London, UK. As in previous years, HealTAC 2021
will bring the academic, clinical, industrial and patient communities
together to discuss the current state of the art in processing healthcare
free-text data and share experience, results and challenges.

*Keynotes:*

   - *Dr Aurélie Névéol* (Université Paris-Saclay, CNRS, LIMSI), who will
   discuss “Responsible bioNLP in the making: contributions from ethics,
   reproducibility and the state of NLP”
   - *Prof Maria Liakata* (Queen Mary University, the Alan Turing
   Institute), who will talk about longitudinal models of NLP and their
   application to mental health.

*Submissions:* We invite full and short papers, posters, PhD student/early
postdoc papers, demos, tutorials and panel proposals that address any
methodological or implementational aspect involved in processing and using
healthcare free text data. Submissions are welcome from all disciplines
interested in this area (NLP, speech processing, clinical and social care,
legal, auditing etc.). For selected conference papers, there will be the
option to submit a journal length paper for further peer review and
publication in *Frontiers in Digital Health*.

*Key dates:*

   - ***March 22nd 2021****:* deadline for long and short papers, tutorial
   and panel proposals
   - *April 12th 2021:* deadline for posters, PhD forum and demo proposals
   - *April 23rd, 2021:* notification of acceptance

   diaries)
   - Processing clinical literature and trial reports
   - Integration of structured and unstructured resources for health
   applications
   - Text analytics and learning health systems
   - Explainable models for healthcare NLP
   - Real-time processing of healthcare free text
   - Real-world application of text analytics
   - Scalable and secure healthcare NLP infrastructures
   - Implementation of healthcare text analytics in practice: public
   engagement and trust
   - Sharing resources for healthcare text analytics (data and methods)
   - Reproducibility in the healthcare text analytics
   - Evaluation and assessment of text analytics methods
   - Text mining for veterinary medicine
