We are looking for PhD candidates to join an innovative and diverse research team of computer scientists at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany).

* You hold a Master or Diploma degree in computer science, applied mathematics, technical medicine or related disciplines.
* You are highly motivated to expand your knowledge in one or more of the following fields: machine learning, natural language processing, causal discovery, conversational agents, and explainable artificial intelligence. Ideally, you bring some first experience (e.g., a student project) in at least one of the above areas.
* You have experience in programming, preferably python and deep learning libraries.
* You are proficient in English.
