Funded PhD positions in deep learning are available in Professor Peter
Sadowski's lab at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa, an R1 research
university located in Honolulu and a playground for machine learning and
data science. The lab has numerous interdisciplinary collaborations
applying deep learning to astronomy, cosmology, high-energy physics, solar
physics, oceanography, remote sensing, climate modeling, biology, and
medical imaging.

Dr. Sadowski will be presenting at the NeurIPS 2019 Workshop on Machine
Learning for the Physical Sciences, so please introduce yourself if you are
also attending NeurIPS.

UH Mānoa is surrounded by verdant mountains and two miles from Waikiki
surfing. Researchers have unique access to volcano-top observatories, ocean
research stations, and tropical reef ecosystems. The High-Performance
Computing center at UH houses a new GPU cluster specifically for deep
learning research. Professor Sadowski is also Co-Founder of the AI
Precision Health Institute at the UH Cancer Center, which is applying AI to
medical imaging data from Hawaii's incredibly diverse population.
