_*Pre-apply here: *__*https://forms.gle/RKFZM6Ha1iU6Zduu9*_

PhDs are starting in*November 2019 with a 3 years scholarship*;
expiration date for first level applications: *May 31st, 2019* on the
following research areas:

  * Learning of interaction models from multisensory signals for
    artificial self-aware agents capable of imitative behaviors
  * Multimodal single and collective self-awareness agent models for
    autonomous ground and aerial vehicles
  * Machine learning methods for cognitive AI-enabled radio

The PhD scholarships are available within the Joint Doctoral Programme
in Interactive and Cognitive Environments (JD ICE) that is a PhD
programme organised by the Department of Electrical, Electronic,
Telecommunications Engineering and Naval Architecture at University of
Genoa, theCentre for Intelligent Sensing at Queen Mary University of
London <http://cis.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/> and theIntelligent Systems Lab of
the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid <http://www.uc3m.es/islab>.

      General information

Applications are invited for PhD open positions. JD ICE provides PhD
training in the fields of multimedia signal processing, data fusion,
computer vision, cognitive dynamic systems and machine learning, and
offers advanced research projects designed for ambitious students
willing to become word-leading researchers. PhD students will benefit
from a joint-supervision model and will spend main part of their PhD
programme in Genova, Italy with a 12 months (minimum) mobility to the
secondary institution.

The ISIP40 group, active in the DITEN department in the Faculty of
Engineering of the University of Genoa has focused its attention mostly on:

  * Cognitive Dynamic Systems
  * Multisensor Signal Processing for Surveillance
  * Software and Cognitive Radio
  * Bayesian Object and Situation assessment
  * Interactive and Cognitive Environments

      Open positions for PhD (dottorato di ricerca)

PhD course starts at the beginning of November 2019; expiration date for
first level applications:*May 31st, 2019*in the following research areas:

 1. *Learning of interaction models from multisensory signals for
    artificial self-aware agents capable of imitative behaviors*: this
    research theme will study novel signal processing techniques based
    on probabilistic graphical models and dynamic Bayesian networks for
    understanding the dynamics of cognitive systems and learn how to
    transfer this acquired knowledge;
 2. *Multimodal single and collective self-awareness agent models for
    autonomous ground and aerial vehicles*: this project will study
    bio-inspired probabilistic techniques for modeling artificial
    self-aware systems and interactions between aerial and ground vehicles;
 3. *Machine learning methods for cognitive AI-enabled radio*: this
    research theme will study algorithms and methods for cognitive radio
    terminals for opportunistic spectrum usage to optimize transmission
    rate and external attack robustness
