School of Computer Science, University of Manchester

https://www.jobs.manchester.ac.uk/displayjob.aspx?jobid=15025

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the University of Manchester’s leading activities in Machine Learning and Data Science. The University is investing heavily for the future, with focus on areas of national importance such as health, security, smart cities, robotics, and data-intensive sciences like physics, astronomy and biology. The School of Computer Science is investing for growth in core Machine Learning, as the enabling activity for these areas, and more. As a member of staff you will contribute to our international portfolio of research in ML, informed by real-world applications, and be willing to engage across discipline boundaries to apply your work. Applications are welcomed from any branch of ML and Data Science, though we particularly welcome applications from researchers in health data analytics, intelligent robotics and security issues for data science/ML.

You will join the Machine Learning group www.cs.manchester.ac.uk/mlo<http://www.cs.manchester.ac.uk/mlo> and also be part of the wider pan-university community. The university is a hive of activity beneficial for ML, including computational statistics (School of Mathematics), ambient sensor systems (School of Electronic Engineering), health informatics (Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health), and intelligent robotics (including a new robotics lab led by Prof Angelo Cangelosi in 2018). The university recently joined the Alan Turing Institute, the UK national institute for AI and Data Science. As a Manchester staff member you will be fully supported in application to become a Turing Fellow, with the benefits of facilitated collaboration with leading institutes across the UK.
