The IT University of Copenhagen invites highly motivated individuals
to apply for a Postdoc position starting April 1st or soon thereafter
for a duration of two years.
Application Deadline: March 1st, 2018
The overall aim of the project is to create lifelong learning machines
by combining ideas from neuroevolution, reinforcement learning, and
neural plasticity. The ultimate goal of the research is to create a
self-driving agent that can continually improve its performance and
update its knowledge unsupervised, rapidly adapt to unforeseen
contexts, and consolidate new tasks without forgetting old ones.
The successful candidate will complement an international,
interdisciplinary team of researchers from Europe and the US with
experience in deep learning, brain models, robotics, neuro evolution
and neural plasticity. The postdoc will support the project by
developing indirect encodings for the evolution of large-scale plastic
neural networks.
The successful candidate is expected to hold a PhD in computer science
or similar with experience in some of the following topics:
- Memory-augmented Neural Networks (Neural Turing Machine, Memory
Networks, etc.)
- Neural Plasticity
- Neuroevolution
- Meta learning
- Indirect encodings (HyperNEAT, HyperNetworks, etc.)
- Evolutionary algorithms
- Deep RL
The successful candidate will join the Robot, Evolution, and Art Lab
(REAL), which is a newly created research group at the IT University
of Copenhagen (see https://real.itu.dk).
Application:
The applicant should have a good track record of top-tier research
publications in machine learning, or evolutionary computation.
The application must be in English and must include:
- A motivated application, including a research statement and a cogent
argument for how qualified you are for the position
- A full CV, including name, address, phone number, e-mail, previous
and present employment and academic background
Documentation of academic degrees (copy of degree certificates etc.)
- Top 3 publications
- A numbered list of publications. The enclosed publications should be
marked with an asterisk (*)
