Motivation and description
TMLSS is a machine learning summer school that aims to popularize topics
around machine learning and artificial intelligence and to encourage
research in these fields. The summer school will be held in Eastern Europe
-- this year in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. By bringing together high quality
lecturers and students from all over the world, we strive to enable
communication and networking between the Eastern Europe research community
and students and researchers from established groups around the world.
The school is open to participants from all over the world. The selection
process has equal opportunities and diversity at heart, and will assess
interest and knowledge of machine learning.
The theme of this edition will be Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning.
The programme consists of lectures and hands-on practical sessions on core
topics such as Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement
Learning, and Generative Models. Additional advanced topics include
Robotics and the Theory of Neural Networks.

Poster session
Participants are encouraged to present posters on their research work and
interests. The work described does not have to be novel. For example,
students can present their experience of reproducing published work.
Presenting a poster increases the chance of being selected. Participants
that choose to present a poster will be asked to submit an abstract during
registration.
Social events
The programme includes several opportunities for socializing and
networking, such as welcoming reception, half-day trip around Cluj,
farewell dinner.
Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships will be offered to students, based on
financial considerations.
