Postdoctoral Research Associate in Baseball, Biomedical Signal
Processing and Machine Learning
Thor Industries, Inc. and US Army Research Laboratory
Thor Industries is pleased to announce this postdoctoral or PhD (All
But Dissertation) position in its Cooperative Agreement with the US
Army Research Laboratory (ARL). The project is in its second year of a
multi-year effort with the ARL.
Thor Industries is led by its Principal, Dr. Jason Sherwin. Thor
Industries is partnered with the University of Tennessee Math
Department on this Cooperative Agreement with the ARL. Thor Industries
is tasked with examining neural and behavioral data collected from
real-world baseball hitting experts and analyzing these data for
relationships to real-world data (i.e., on-field statistics collected
in-game). A familiarity with rapid decision-making, go/no-go paradigms
and baseball metrics is a requirement.
The successful applicant is expected to relocate to Aberdeen Proving
Ground, MD, USA, or nearby to work at the Aberdeen Proving Ground with
ARL personnel. A housing allowance will be given in addition to stated
salary. A travel budget is also available to the successful applicant.
Only U.S. Citizens will be considered due to security restrictions at
the worksite.
The successful applicant will investigate and develop advanced signal
processing and machine learning algorithms for prediction purposes.
The ideal candidate will have received a PhD in Biomedical
Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely
related discipline, and is expected to have significant experience of
biomedical signal processing and machine learning techniques.
Applicants are also encouraged to have a strong publication record as
first author,
ideally including publications in 1st quartile journals in relevant
areas. Appointment will be made as Senior Research Scientist in Thor
Industries.
Salary: Competitive and With Non-Salary Perks
Duration: 12 Months (short-term), 24-36 months (pending renewal long-term)
