of Ghent, Ghent, Belgium !!! Registration deadline extended : noon 4 May
2018 !!!register here → https://brainhackghent.github.io/#register
<https://brainhackghent.github.io/#register>On 7-8th May 2018, the second
edition of Brainhack Ghent will take place at the university of Ghent
(FPPW, Henri Dunantlaan 2, 9000 Ghent), as part of the Brainhack Global
event (May 2-6). During this two-day event, dedicated to students and PhD
students, we will work in teams on neuroscience-related projects.Brainhack
integrates all levels of expertise and is also an opportunity to learn
(new) methods, develop skills, share knowledge, collaborate with other
participants and make new friendships in academia.During the “hack
sessions”, participants will be working together in small groups on
relevant projects. The hackathon will end on the last day, when
participants will have the opportunity to present a brief overview of the
progress they made (project update). The projects that have already been
submitted evolve around reproducibility, and EEG/fMRI analysis.Participants
will be supervised and could receive advice on methods from other
participants and project leaders throughout the two days.We also planned a
series of several science related talks. Among others subjects you could
learn about meta-analysis, science communication, and information theory.A
constant flow of coffee will be provided during the event. During the event
we will also ask a small fee for those who would want to be provided with
some food from university cantine. You can register for Brainhack Ghent
2018 by going to https://brainhackghent.github.io/#register
<https://brainhackghent.github.io/#register> At this website, you can also
submit a project which will be realised during the two-day event. Projects
can be side projects, projects you were always interested in, but never had
time to work on, new ideas you want to explore… In order to submit your
project, proceed to the ‘project submission’ section, where you can specify
the project author, a project title, and a short project outline specifying
some scientific context and concrete goals. Of course, you’re always
welcome to provide that extra bit of information to help your fellow
Brainhackers in their project selection process! For example, you can
provide 1-3 key papers related to the project, some requirements (e.g.
certain programming skills) for taking part in the project, skills and
competences that can be learned in the project... If you have any questions
about the feasibility/added value/… of a project you want to submit, do not
hesitate to contact us (brainhackghent2018 at gmail.com
<brainhackghent2018 at gmail.com>). We will provide you with feedback as soon
as possible! If you prefer to prepare a tutorial in addition to/ instead of
submitting a project, you are certainly welcome to contact us as well! If
you feel that the deadline ( noon 4th of May) for submitting the
project/tutorial is too short for you and you need more time please let us
know before that date!We hope to hear from you soon, and please feel free
to forward this message to other colleagues whom might be interested!!The
Organization Committee of BrainHack Ghent 2018*
