Connectionists: Upcoming call for postdoctoral positions in Barcelona

Upcoming call for postdoctoral positions in the *Center for Language and
Speech Technologies and Applications* *(TALP). *TALP is a specific
interdepartmental research center at the Technical University of Catalunya
(UPC) <http://www.upc.edu/>.


The Language and Speech Technologies Research Center at UPC would like to
draw the attention of young postdoctoral researchers in Speech and Language
Processing to the imminent opening of two different calls for a number of
2-year postdoctoral contracts within the "Juan de la Cierva" program of the
Spanish Ministry for Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness (MINEICO).

1) "Ayudas para contratos Juan de la Cierva-formación": For early stage
researchers who were awarded their PhD between 1 January 2016 and 31
December 2017. The application period will start on 21 December 2017 and
will end on 11 January 2018. The currently available information about the

who were awarded their PhD between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2015 The
application period will start on 20 December 2017 and will end on 10

TALP encourages qualified candidates, working in areas within the research
scope of the center, to send a short expression of interest and a 2-page cv
to info at talp.upc.edu <mfuentes at upc.edu> by 21st December 2017. Please, add
as a subject **Juan de la Cierva Application**

Research areas of interest to the group include:

   - audio analysis and enhancement,
   - construction and use of multilingual lexical resources,
   - development of speech databases,
   - information extraction,
   - information retrieval,
   - machine learning methods,
   - machine translation,
   - multilingual robust speech recognition,
   - multilingual text-to-speech conversion,
   - natural language interfaces,
   - natural language processing tools,
   - speaker and emotions recognition.
