Dear Learning, Memory, & Cognitive Neuroscience Colleagues:

The Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN) at Rutgers University-Newark has received approval to search for a new Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience. The following advertisement is currently running in Nature. While the search is open to all researchers using humans and/or non-human primates it is essential that applicants fit well into a broad integrative interdisciplinary neuroscience unit that emphasizes cross-laboratory collaborations pursuing fundamental research on brain structure and function.

I would be especially interested in seeing applicants working on learning and memory. We have a strong cohort of colleagues across several departments working in this area spanning multiple approaches at several levels; we seek synergistic new colleagues who would enhance our ability to collectively attract shared graduate students, training grants, and program project support in learning and memory.

For those with an interest in working with clinical populations, we have superb cooperation with our medical school faculty in neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery, as well as many ongoing collaborations with clinical colleagues at several medical centers in nearby New York City. For those who use functional imaging, we have a state-of-the-art research-dedicated brain imaging facility housed right within our research center with 24/7 access for testing. See http://rubic.rutgers.edu/ <http://rubic.rutgers.edu/>.

The formal application procedure is described below, but anyone with a particular interest in learning and memory research is encouraged to also send me a copy of their resume and research overview when they apply for the position. More on my lab at http://www.gluck.edu <http://www.gluck.edu/>

Applications should be submitted by DECEMBER 1st (end of this month!) to insure timely review.

- Mark Gluck

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or a related field and have completed at least two years of post-doctoral training.

The ideal candidate for this position asks fundamental hypothesis-driven questions about brain structure and function and is open to establishing collaborative research efforts within the Rutgers neuroscience community. Research areas of particular interest are executive control, sensory-motor integration, learning and memory, and emotional regulation. The successful applicant will likely use a broad range of experimental approaches in non-human primates, and/or humans. The assistant professor will be expected to maintain an active externally-funded research program, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroscience, and to mentor Ph.D. students in the Behavioral and Neural Sciences program.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a leading national public research university and the state's preeminent, comprehensive public institution of higher education.
